Welcome to my web site www.kengracey.com Minimize

Welcome! If you found my web site then chances are we're already friends and you know I've got some pretty diverse personal interests centered around mechanics, robotics and the outdoors. I've built my web site because I want to be able to share the interests I've developed with friends who also have similar hobbies. These projects were all a lot of fun and really rewarding to build. You are welcome to take all the resources on this web site and use them as you wish. I've posted all code, schematics and drawings.

Propeller-based Robot with GPS and 2-meter Radios - in progress as of November 2008
I built this fairly simple robot chassis from a variety of Parallax products, including the 12V Motor Mount and Wheel Kit, HB-25s and Propeller Proto Board. The purpose of this project is to learn the Propeller and to use the 2-meter radios (see the prior project, below) to report telemetry data as this robot circles my office to four (4) GPS waypoints.

Communication with BASIC Stamps over 2-meter HT Radios November 2008
Send and receive data between microcontrollers up to five miles using handheld 2-meter transceivers.

Finger Engine - November 2006
An adaptation from the Home Shop Machinist project is a fun part to build on your CNC milling machine. If you build it properly then it will spin for a long time! Download my drawings and videos.

12V Power Generator - October 2006
Connect a mini 4-stroke engine to an automobile alternator and battery to generate 20-50A at 12V as long as you've got the gasoline to power the system!

Scorpion Snowmobile Restoration Project - November 2005 to February 2006
Craig's List is amazing - I found this machine for free, stored away in pieces in a Truckee, California garage. After about 40 hours of work, rounding up some parts on the internet, this machine ran like it was new!
